I think I have always been a Tour Guide, it just took me a long time to realise it!

​

My family history stretches back for hundreds of years in London, but I was the first

generation of my family to be born on the Isle of Wight. As lovely as the Island is,

I always wanted to be in London. And I have been living here for the last 16 years.

​

After working in the Music Industry for a number of years, I thought back to a part time job I once had at the Sherlock Holmes Museum in Baker Street. It was the best job I had (until now). I would spend my days working with tourists from all over the world, and I loved passing on my knowledge of not only Sherlock Holmes, but also London and the wider UK.

I always remembered this job, and knew one day I would some how get back into working with visitors, and passing on my passion for my home nation and its long history, quirky places, and its sometimes curious traditions. 

​

So rather than dream about it any longer I decided to become a freelance tour guide. 

​

I set about designing my own tours and began extensive research. Shortly afterwards I became a freelance tour guide for a very well respected 5 star rated tour company. (Beating 600 other applicants!)  I loved being back working with visitors and helping them enjoy their holiday and soon afterwards the tours I conducted were receiving 5 star reviews. I was doing something right!

But I wanted to be able to develop and run my own tours. The kind of tours I would want to be on myself.

My tours are well researched, and take you to the places I would love you to see.

But we all have different tastes, and we all like to see things at our own pace. 

​

I want my guests to feel like they are visiting an old friend or relative here in the UK. Someone who genuinely wants them to have a great time and make the most of their trip. You will never be rushed from one place to the next (Unless you want to be of course)

Each tour is bespoke to you, and I run through the options on each tour, and let you decide how you want the pace to be set.

My tours are all either private tours, or very small group. You get me exclusively as your Driver and Tour Guide. There will be no other guests to pick up, no strict schedules to keep to, no pick up points to worry about, as I come to you! When you book me, I go out of my way to make sure you have the best time possible.

I chose to call my tour company Richard's Tours because I put my name to them. And I personally take responsibility for the experience and service you receive.
