Doc Martin & Poldark Locations Tour   2 days - 1 Overnight Stay

Doc Martin Locations tour
Poldark Locations Tour

Doc Martin and Poldark have many fans around the world. Doc Martin is a more light hearted drama with lovable characters and amusing story lines. Poldark is a little more moody and atmospheric. What do they share in common?

The answer -  Cornwall

Both of these wonderful TV Shows are shot in Cornwall in the south west of England, and many of the locations are relatively close to each other. This tour is ideal for fans of both shows, as we will divide out time equally between them.

Cornwall is difficult to get to and get around if you don't have a car, so let me do all the work for you!

A personalised tour, bespoke to you. No large groups, just you and me!, your personal tour guide and driver.

Day One - All about the Doc

Cornwall is about 4.5 hours from London, so we will depart early to make the most of our trip. (Other pick up locations are possible if you are not staying in London) We will break up the journey on route to stretch our legs and take refreshment before heading on down through Devon and in to Cornwall.

Arriving around lunchtime in Port Isaac (Port Wenn) Perhaps you can tuck in to a traditional Cornish Pasty or the huge Fish & Chips at the Golden Lion Pub (the real life pub that is renamed the Crab & Lobster in the TV series)

Then we can explore the Village -

The Village School where Louisa is Head Teacher

Mrs Tishell's Pharmacy

Aunty Ruth's house & Other characters homes.

Key filming locations.

And of course the Doc's surgery and Cottage.

For those with some energy we will walk to the top of the

village and on to the cliffs to get a beautiful view of the village

often used in the filming.

Once we have toured the Village we can make the short trip on foot or by car to Port Gaverne - Home to PC Penhale and the beach often used for filming scenes and story lines.

Then perhaps it will be time for a traditional Cornish Cream Tea? Or perhaps some souvenir shopping at Mrs Tishells?

After seeing the sights of Port Isaac you may want to freshen up at your accomodation and then head into the village for some truly exceptional seafood fresh from the local fishermen to your plate or other locally sourced food. I will leave you to enjoy your evening in Port Isaac as you wish, but will be on hand for anything you need.

Day 2 - It's all about Ross!

After breakfast, I will pick you up from your accommodation and we will drive down to the stunning former mines at either St Agnes head or Bottalack. Both are used as locations for Wheal Lesuire and Wheal Grace. And many of the panning cliff top shots of the cast walking or on horseback are filmed in these locations. The stunning scenery along this coast also doubles as Namparra Valley.

We will then head to the charming little harbour at Charlestown. This port becomes Truro harbour in the Poldark series, and any time Ross is seen leaving to go overseas or to catch a boat it is usually filmed here. There are some great resturants and pubs in this tiny town if you start to feel peckish.

Our last stop will be Bodmin Moor. And the village of St Breward. In the outskirts of the village the film crew use a cottage as Namparra , (Ross and Demelza's home) And also the cottage of Dwight Ennis is located nearby.

Many of the fishermans/villagers cottages are filmed in St Breward, as well as other scenes for the show.

We will then commence our journey back to London, (or chosen stop on route Bath, Salisbury, Winchester, Windsor.)
